Chaps are either Shotgun, named because the legs look like shotgun barrels, batwing with a wide bottom portionthat is loose around the boot, and woolies which are made for colder climate work.
Chinks are for less restrictive fit but still protecting the legs in warmer climates, like the Southwest. They are popular among SASS shooters because of the cooler qualities while competing the authentic look.
Botas, or Gauch pants cover the lower portion of the legs, from the knee down, offering extra protection for thorns, cacti, scrub brush, in hot climates.
